We’d like to highlight owner Gloria Pridemore this month with an extremely special project she’s working on. At Gawk, we are working on expanding into booklet and zine printing. This is in part due to Gloria’s career path as a graphic story teller, and comic illustrator. 

With a particular focus on fantasy illustration, her recent graphic novel project; The History of The Milky Way is an epic retelling of how our galaxy came to be. Follow the Moon, Ocean, Sun and Earth as they tell the story from their point of view. 

With a special interest in keeping her work physical, Gloria decided to undertake all 65 pages by hand from start to finish. This includes the layout, lining, inking, and most daunting of all- LETTERING. It’s been a real learning process to step out of her comfort zone and do certain drawing tasks that require very clean and restricted movement. However, patience really  is a virtue for this particular project. Every page has been a learning experience, and offered her a new bit of knowledge about creating.
